A stunning gold locket from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This beautiful piece is crafted in 14kt yellow gold and has a gorgeous etched design covering the entire front surface. Set in the center of the swirling floral design in a single cabochon garnet which adds a colorful element to this already exceptional piece. The locket is large in size and round in shape but not particularly thick, allowing it to lie flat when worn. The back of the piece has a smooth gold surface with an engraved set of initials in a flowing cursive script and the locket is hinged and opens on the side to reveal a covered space to store two photographs inside. The locket hangs from a simple gold bail which is stamped "14K" on the back. It would look marvelous hung from a long gold chain and would make a gorgeous addition to any collection!
Measurements: The locket hangs approximately 1 7/8" long, has a diameter of approximately 1 3/8" and is slightly more than 1/4" at its thickest point.
Condition: The overall condition of the piece is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold and the garnet stone is intact. The locket opens easily and closes securely.
