This charming trinket box from the late Victorian era (ca1900) was manufactured by R. Blackinton & Co. for Cartier! The palm-sized piece is crafted in sterling silver, featuring a smooth, rounded surface with a hinged opening on the back. A hollow compartment inside allows just the right amount space to store small trinkets or special mementos for safekeeping. When lifted, the inside of the hinged "door" reveals several stamped hallmarks, including the authentic "Cartier" signature, "STERLING," and the R. Blackinton & Co. maker's marks ("R," a sword piercing the letter "B," and "CO"). The interior of the box still retains its original gilt finish. A delightful piece by a legendary jeweler, this sentimental antique treasure would make a lovely gift for someone special!
Measurements: The box measures 1 3/4" long, 1 3/8" wide, and stands just over 1/4" high.
Condition: The overall condition of the box is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling silver. The hinged door on the back opens easily and snaps securely shut.
