A spectacular garnet necklace from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This stunning piece is crafted in 14kt yellow gold and features six garnet cabochons hanging in a festoon style. The deep reddish-purple garnets are particularly large in size and rest in open back settings connected by multiple chains, balancing the necklace's femininity with a bold statement. The stones' natural color is enhanced by the open setting, pairing perfectly against the rich gold background. The necklace fastens securely in the back with a delicately engraved barrel clasp. The festoon style piece rests beautifully at the neckline, and would be a fantastic addition to any Victorian collection!
Measurements: The necklace measures approximately 15" in total length. The largest garnet measures approximately 1 1/4" tall, nearly 1" wide, and 3/8" deep including the bezel setting. The remaining garnets measure approximately 5/8" by 5/8" and an average of 3/8" deep. The central drop measures 3 1/2 inches long.
Condition: The overall condition of the necklace is excellent. There is some wear to the gold setting, but this is commensurate with age, not noticeable when worn, and does not compromise the integrity of the piece. All of the garnets are intact and securely set. The push clasp is secure and in good working order.
