A simply wonderful gemstone bug pin from the Retro (ca1940) era! The brooch is crafted in 14kt rose gold, and depicts a large, full bodied beetle. A large pear-shaped citrine acts as the body, which is beautifully faceted for a light-catching effect, exhibiting a gorgeous shade of rich golden orange. Two delicate ruby cabochons represent the insect's eyes, and the center of its body is encrusted with sparkling rose cut diamonds, which are pavé set in sterling silver. Completing the design are two curved antennae sprouting from the top of the head, and six bent legs that peek out from the underside of the body. The design has a wonderful 3-dimensional look and is quite substantial in size, making a fantastic statement piece! On the back of the piece is a secure bar pin clasp, perfect for fastening the brooch to a favorite garment. A fabulous Retro piece, it would be right at home in any gemstone bug collection!
Measurements: The pin measures approximately 1 5/8" tall, 1 1/4" wide, and 3/8" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the pin is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold and sterling setting. All of the gemstones are intact, securely set, and free of surface chips or scratches. The pin clasp fastens securely and is in good working condition.
